You can't just ask customers what they want and then try to give that to them. By the time you get it built, they'll want something new ~ Steve Jobs |

Aussie Speakers Taking Over the U.S.A!
Australian speakers are taking over the U.S.A. with more and more of them living part time on both sides of the pond. Not only do they get to network with some of Hollywood’s finest (see Kirsty Spraggon pictured left with Sam Worthington), it also gives them an edge as speakers, keeping them at the forefront of emerging global trends. This also means as a client, they are more accessible to you being able to book them anywhere in the world! |
Jason Jay - A Speaker with True Flair! We all know that staff engagement is important – but is it enough? Do we want our staff to be simply engaged – or do we want them to be inspired? Jason Jay believes that Staff Empowerment is the next level in the quest to align the attainment of business goals with the happiness and growth of our people. In his inspiring speech ‘Do it with Flair’, Jason focuses on the way in which we approach our work and how closely this relates to the results we end up achieving. A former champion flair bartender, Jason energises the room with bottle tricks and shakes up cocktails with audience members, all while making the point that ‘it’s not WHAT you do – but HOW you do it’. Jason also brings a fresh energy to the role of MC, linking speakers, topics and segments while maintaining momentum and mixing-in just a dash of playfulness. So if you are looking for something a little different and to make your next event memorable call one of our sales consultants to enquire about Jason. |
| Blog: Knowing Where You're Going is Important ~ Penny Burke | |
Last week I was in Canberra facilitating a Senior Management Meeting for an organisation operating in the Asia Pacific region. It was a three day meeting, with the objective being to facilitate the group to provide the key inputs to next year’s Annual Operating Plan. It was going to be quite a job, so early on the Monday morning I went for a run just to clear my mind and prepare myself for the opening day. When I arrived the evening prior night had fallen, but I had stayed in this hotel and jogged in the nearby park before. So off I set, the cool morning air stinging my face and waking me up! I drifted into that zone where I was barely thinking about the run and was playing over in my mind what was going to happen that day, and what I wanted to achieve. I was going for about 20 minutes and was on the home leg back to the hotel. When I rounded the final street corner, I was surprised to see that the road I had thought was going to be there wasn’t actually there. In fact, when I had a really good look round, I realised I didn’t recognise any of the surroundings, and was probably pretty lost! So what did I do? Instead of stopping and thinking coherently and objectively about the position, how I got there, where I went wrong and how I could address it, I did what most of the corporate world does – I ran even quicker, refusing to believe I WAS actually lost, and thinking if I just went a little bit further it would all be OK. And of course, in so doing, I got even further lost. Then I panicked, thinking of the time I was wasting, that I’d be late for the conference, that the whole thing would be ruined – so I ran even faster even though I was pretty tired, and kept hoping I would find a better way. It was a disaster! Eventually I did of course get back to the hotel, but who knows how much time I wasted out of panic, and how many of my resources were depleted in pursuit of a hopeless direction? I reflected in the shower how often do we do this in organisational life? Any good business planning process really only has three questions to answer. Where are we now, where are we going, and how can we get there? And if you don’t know where you’re going, any road can take you there! So answer the right questions with clarity and insight; get the right people beside you and the right information; lose the panic; and you’re well on the way to not getting lost!
